Greece celebrates its liberation from the Ottomans on the 25th of March every year. Kalamata takes proud of being the first city to be liberated and so the festivities start on the 23rd.

Most popular attractions for our visitors are surely:

  • The special decoration and illumination of the city and its main buildings
  • The Representation of the city liberation on the 23rd March at 15:00 which takes place at the “23rd March Square” (which is as you see named after this event). We do recommend you visit this attraction 🙂
  • The parade that takes place on the 25th March at 11:00 on the north part of Aristomenous street.

A detailed program of the celebrations you find … only in Greek … here
